Just keep swimming!

Every day is a new day, a new chance at what you think you failed at yesterday. What a reassuring thought! You can have a "do-over!" I'm so glad that Jesus gives us unlimited do-overs because I am constantly having to go back begging for them! With one eye closed I secretly sneak into the kitchen and feast on whatever horrible processed snack I can come up with! On the up side...I did manage to get the treadmill workout in today! yay me!

Everything changes now....

The resolution made in January was to get healthy & get fit. Not an original goal by any stretch of the imagination, but definitely one that needs to be made. As we exit the forties, it's nearly time for an overdue fine. We've made it through January with some improvements in the choices we eat, but still not good at portion control. So, we'll continue to make healthier choices and the goal for February is to work on the size and amounts of our portions. Trying to do that without feeling like we are starving will be difficult. I want to keep up the excercise...and actually add to it. I didn't get it in everyday, but everday that I did was one more than I did last year! So, yay me! Today will be difficult because of the birthday dinner, so I chose to not to beat myself up over it, special occasions are just that, special. I don't think I've put a final goal on paper yet, but if I were to make it today, my goal would be to lose 25 pounds and to be consistent in my workouts. 25 pound should be a piece of cake....oops....piece of....hunk of....well....25 pounds is doable! Ok, there's the goal...now....the prize.....Each 5 pounds I think I deserve a treat! The old me, would say the treat is food, the new me...I think it should be a new blouse for the first five, a new pair of shoes for the first 10. At 15 pounds a new skirt, 20 is pretty big, so let's say we go out and get something in the lingerie section! At 25 pounds, with the excercise...I ought to look pretty hot and be ready to take a cruise! My 25th anniversary is just two years away, so I want to be looking fine by then! Ok....so what's for breakfast? I'm thinking whole wheat toast....homemade. A few more days in January....and then we are rockin into February!

Missing blogger!

Incredible! I have been busier as a SAHM than I ever was before! I had my last day of work near the end of August...the very next day I went with some girlfriends to Tulsa, OK to the Creating Keepsakes Convention there. We didn't stay the weekend like we had in the past, but rather just went to shop. Funny thing happened on the way...we got pulled over by the OKHP! Actually Jen got pulled over, I was in the backseat snapping pictures! And laughing! We had a great trip! Then, on the heels of that adventure, I hopped on a plane to go check up on my dad. I spent 6 days in California. His health was pretty good, and he felt like showing me around central coastal California. We visited Monterey, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, Big Sur and Carmel. The next day we headed to San Francisco from San Jose. I got back home in time to get a few things done, and then took off for Kansas City with some other girlfriends, we spent 3 days up there, scrapbooking and shopping, mostly scrapbooking! Now, I'm home again and realizing that I've been "unemployed" for nearly two months and had not written anything at all on my blog! In a nutshell that is about it! Until next time....never a dull moment!

3 more days

Three more days and I will officially be a stay at home mom again! YAY! After 5 years, I am going to tackle it again. Being a part time sahm was a challenge. Homeschooling was the hardest part. I really miss the homemaker side of me. I'm sure it will be slow going trying to get back into the swing of things, but I've got my apron out and pressed and ready to swoop through the house on my trusty dyson! Life is good!

God is Good!

I was feeling kind of low because we hadn't done any type of vacation with the kids this summer. I started looking into some quick options yesterday and had semi-planned a day trip to a newly opened water park (Schlitterbaun). I was very excited. Then I looked on Craigslist for tickets at a discount. While I was there I not only found some discount tickets for that park, but for Silver Dollar City also! I got 6 SDC day tickets for a song! I am completely singing about it! The kids will be soooo excited. We haven't been there in about 4 years, so this will be a great day! I need to find a few more tickets so we can all go...but even if I can't find the discounts...one at full price is still better than 7!!!!!!!!! This is going to be a great day!

A fav cracker!!!

This isn't your average daily blog post. Completely off the cuff and spontaneous! Have you tried Ritz Flip Side crackers? Oh they are heavenly! Part ritz and part pretzel! I am just addicted to them! Especially good with cream cheese or a cheese ball. I don't know how they make them but I'm glad they do! Ingenious! So, I sit here munching on these new delicacies and wondering why I am blogging about crackers! I do suppose someone should do it! Since you can't get on facebook or twitter today, why not? I guess I could just go back to being productive around the house! The kids would like to go swimming too....sounds good to me!

Going Going Gone!

Why is it that a workday drags on, and even winter moves slowly, but summer is gone in a flash! I actually saw a store putting out Christmas merchandise!!! Not the ole "Christmas in July" that we used to see in stores, but a fixture of the season to come! But summer as we know it, is gone! Some of the local schools are ready to start classes next week! I don't usually go back until after Labor Day, but it is late this year so I'm going to break the norm and start at the end of August. The kids are less than excited. I always get a little giddy when it comes to school starting. There is just something about a new, fresh start. Although we hate to give up the later nights, the sleeping in the next morning and the fun in the sun & swimming pool, we must. With the changes I am implementing this year with a more "unified" school year, I think the kids will enjoy it. There just isn't much I can do about math....it's just the same as it has always been. All because God is a God of order and this is one area that he can show His perfection. There is only one answer to every problem. Isn't that thought provoking?
